  • Directly responsible for performing all basic fireman apprenticeship functions in engineering areas aboard ship which included cleanliness, operation, maintenance, and preservation of main propulsion, auxiliary steam/diesel machinery, steam, and diesel generators, pumps, motors, and associated equipment.
  • Identifies components of naval boilers, steam turbines, reduction gears, propellers/shafting, shipboard electric systems, and internal combustion engines to perform routine maintenance and procedures.
  • Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and preservation of a main auxiliary machinery room, 2 ship service turbine generators, 2 distilling units, and a reboiler.
  • Maintained steam plant systems (and all associated equipment), repacked valves, maintained/repaired the service turbine generator lube oil cooler, and overhauled the main condensation pump.
